MUMIY TROLL
with DJ ORTEMY
REMG is proud to welcome Vladivostok, Russia's biggest rock band Mumiy Troll to the Mod Club Theatre on Wednesday, January 28.
Mumiy Troll (pronounced Moo-me Troll) is undoubtedly the most significant band that modern Russia has produced since the fall of the Soviet regime. They have made their mark with startling albums and live performances that are bursting with energy, combining warmth and total debauchery.
What exactly does the band sound like? Consider the term – ROCKAPOPS. Contemporary Russian music is actually divided into what was before and what came after Mumiy Troll. Band founder, frontman Ilya Lagutenko, defined their music style as "rockapops" just to avoid pointless Russian media debates on the definition of what is rock and what is pop. Mumiy Troll became the leader of an entire new musical trend, copied now to greater or lesser degree by Russian wannabees and mainstream artists.
Ilya Lagutenko's talent, irreproachable taste and constant working to create something new allow him to be at the center of contemporary cultural development trends in his country. Mumiy Troll changed not only the music, but also the clothes, hairstyles and behavior of Russian young people. It would not be a stretch to note that aside from influencing modern music in Russia, Ilya and the band also helped shape fashion, hairstyles and the like during the 90's for the youth of the country.
Over 1000 gigs over last 8 years exploring Russia and beyond, and finally Mumiy Troll have recorded in English. So you too can have access to the amazing world of Mumiy Troll.

AZIZ ANSARI
GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR
REMG is proud to present Aziz Ansari's Glow in the Dark Tour on Friday January 30, 2008 at The Mod Club Theatre in Toronto.
Aziz Ansari is an actor/standup comedian based in Los Angeles. He created and starred in the hit MTV sketch comedy show "Human Giant." He's also appeared on HBO's "Flight of the Conchords" as a racist fruit vendor. This was a reportedly a difficult role as he is not racist in real life. In 2009, he will appear in the new spinoff of "The Office" on NBC with Amy Poehler.
In the film world, Aziz recently began production on the new Judd Apatow film Funny People with Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Jonah Hill. He recently completed roles in the upcoming films Observe and Report with Seth Rogen and I Love You, Man with Paul Rudd. He unfortunately was not in The Dark Knight but enjoyed the film nonetheless.
As a standup, he's toured with the "Comedians of Comedy" and was also once listed as the "Hot Standup" on Rolling Stone's Annual "Hot List." He also won the Jury Award for Best Standup at the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen in 2006.

REMG ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
LUDO
with guests SUMMERSIDE
REMG is proud to welcome Ludo to Toronto for a show at the Drake Hotel on Tuesday, February 10.
Ludo was formed in Tulsa, OK, in 2003 by Andrew Volpe, Tim Ferrell, Tim Convy, Marshall Fanciullo, and Matt Palermo; the group subsequently based itself in St. Louis, MO.
Ludo signed with Island Records in October 2006. They hit the studio with producer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Faith No More) to record their major-label debut.
Ludo's most recent album You're Awful, I Love You was released in February 2008. It combines the pop sensibilities of their first album with the darkness and adventurous storytelling of Broken Bride, and takes the combination thereof far beyond the scope of either, into a veritable uber-world of extremo-rock, where time is naught and babies burp themselves. When people hear this album for the first time, they will most likely be so moved that they defecate out a perfect, sentient, life-size clone of themselves, feel compelled to murder it, hide the body, and then never speak of it again. So watch out.
Back out on the road after such a distastefully long hiatus, Ludo is kicking ass (not literally) and taking e-mail addresses (literally), delivering the same face-melting, sing-along, power-explosion rock show for which they've become mildly recognizable in certain small demographic pockets of the middle third of the United States.

TAKE ACTION! TOUR
FEATURING
CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR
with special guests MEG & DIA, BREATHE CAROLINA, EVERY AVENUE, AND ANARBOR
REMG, Hopeless Records, and Sub City are proud to present the Take Action! Tour live at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Saturday, February 14.
The Take Action! Tour 2009 lineup will feature headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, along with MEG & DIA, BREATHE CAROLINA, EVERY AVENUE, and ANARBOR. The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its eighth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action, and for the second straight year Take Action has chosen not-for-profit organization DoSomething.org to benefit from the funds raised and to help spread the message of action to young people across the country.
This year's headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, touring in support of its second full-length release Rotation, is one of the brightest bands in the current music scene. They will be joined by a band on the brink of mass crossover, Utah's MEG & DIA who are thrilled to be onboard as part of the Take Action! Tour.
The tour will also feature Denver's BREATHE CAROLINA, a two-piece band fusing elements of electronica and punk/post hardcore, touring in support of its latest release It's Classy, Not Classic; Marysville, Michigan natives EVERY AVENUE promoting their new full length record Shh, Just Go With It; Hopeless Records' ANARBOR who's early buzz on their digital release, The Natural Way, indicates that big things are in store for the pop-rock four-piece.
10% of each ticket sold will be donated to DoSomething.org, a national not-for-profit that believes that young people have the power to make a difference. They inspire, empower and celebrate a generation of doers: young people who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.

REMG ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
N.A.S.A.
REMG is proud to present N.A.S.A. live in concert on Monday, March 9, 2009 at The El Mocambo in Toronto.
While N.A.S.A. stands for North America/South America and contains a number of superstar artists from both coasts of the U.S., it is about as far from a tension-building geographical showdown as a record can get. Rather, The Spirit of Apollo was born with the righteous goal of bringing people together through music and art, and that is exactly what masterminds Sam Spiegel (Squeak E. Clean) and Ze Gonzales (DJ Zegon) have done.
Unexpected collaborations abound on the seventeen track release. Tom Waits growls over Kool Keith, Karen O taunts while Ol' Dirty Bastard gives shoutouts to Wu Tang and N.A.S.A from the grave, and David Byrne, Chuck D and others expound on the evils of "Money." In spite of the range of performers, the pairings seem organic, inspired and make perfect sense on the first listen, never coming off as ironic or impulsive. Spiegel explains that the tracks themselves dictated who would be approached to lend a voice, revealing the larger vision behind the project: "we never said, 'let's make a track for this person.' We'd usually make something we liked, and then as we were starting to write the song, it would tend to go in a direction that we'd be like, 'this sounds like George Clinton,' or 'this sounds like Method Man.' We would start to feel the song out, and feel the artist through the song as we did it. Basically, we'd sit around as we were making these tracks and say the nuttiest combination of names, like our dream of who we could get on the song. It's crazy, a lot of times they actually happened."
In addition, other N.A.S.A. friends have lent their visual talents, and animated music videos for several of The Spirit of Apollo's tracks have been created by some of today's most highly-regarded street artists such as Shepard Fairey, Sage Vaughn, Barry McGee, Marcel Dzama and others. A remix record is already in the works, and Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon will put their turntable skills to good use as N.A.S.A. goes live with Brazilian percussionists, visual effects, art installations and special guests.
